Frome-based cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) is celebrating the renewal and extension of its funding from BBC Children in Need. The new grant of £125,700 over three years marks a 20% increase on the previous three-year funding, which will be used to maintain and expand its children’s and young people’s services in Somerset and Wiltshire.

Fundraising Manager (Grants and Philanthropy) Ruth Knagg says ‘We’re delighted that Children in Need have chosen to continue their valued support of We Hear You. This money will enable us to add additional sessions to our children’s service in Frome and start a new in-school service at Oakfield Academy, as well as maintaining and/or expanding our services at Matravers School, Trowbridge and Street. A three-year grant represents much-needed security for a small charity like WHY and helps us to support young people who are coping with the devastating effects of a life threatening diagnosis. Thanks to Declan and his family for providing a case study and helping to raise awareness of our work as part of the 2018 Children in Need campaign.

We Hear You’s free professional counselling service is available to children, young people and adults affected by cancer or another life-threatening condition at various locations across BaNES, Somerset and Wiltshire. They also offer group and online counselling for adults. For more information please email info@wehearyou.org.uk or call 01373 455255.
