Toddlers on the move raise £800 for WHY

Welshmill Childminders Activity Group set themselves a challenge in September: a sponsored 'toddle waddle' for cancer charity We Hear You (WHY). Thanks to the generosity of proud friends and family, they far exceeded their £250 target and raised just under £800 for WHY, including Gift Aid on donations.

Francesca Cheeseman, one of the organisers, said:

"Welshmill Childminders Activity Group decided to walk for WHY because we think it’s such a fantastic charity which has supported many friends and family of people close to us and our children. The children dressed up as their favourite characters and we toddled three laps of Victoria Park. It was 1.5k, which is quite a lot for little legs! We finished off with a celebratory play and picnic in the park. We would like to thank everyone who donated, we are overwhelmed with your generosity.

Communications Officer Lucy McMahon said "Wow! What an amazing amount those little legs raised! Our annual toddle waddle events haven't always been lucky with the weather, so this year we decided to invite local nurseries and childminders to use our 'toddle waddle' pack and run their own. Thanks so much to Francesca and all the members of Welshmill Childminders Activity Group for rising to the challenge in such an amazing way. Your donation will help us support children. families and individuals of all ages who are coping with the emotional impact of a life-threatening diagnosis."
