Why Cancer Counselling

Local counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) are holding their second 5k ‘Santa Dash’ on Sunday 9th December at the Old Showfield in Frome. The event is supported by Frome Running Club and Frome Cricket Club, with all proceeds going towards WHY’s free professional counselling service for anyone affected or bereaved by a life threatening condition.

Gemma Wilkes, Fundraising and Communications at WHY, says, ‘Our first Santa Dash was fantastic, despite truly awful weather, and we’re looking forward to doing it all again. Everyone who pre-registers will receive a Santa suit including a hat and beard to run in, which guarantees the festive spirit if not the sprint speed! It’s a short distance and the course is reasonably flat, so there’s no need to be super-fit and children are welcome – under fives are free, although we can’t get suits that small! There’s no minimum sponsorship amount, but we’d love participants to try to raise £44 each, which is the cost of one counselling session at We Hear You. Thanks so much to Frome Running Club and the Frome Cricket Club for all their help and support.’

Registration for the Santa Dash is via Eventbrite.co.uk and costs £10 per adult or £5 per child (age 6-16 – all children must be accompanied). A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £25. Booking will close once places are filled, or on Wednesday 5th December.
