New cancer supporters therapy group starts in Frome
Do you, or someone you know, care or support someone affected by cancer? Could you benefit from some emotional support? Would you like to meet others in a similar situation? If so, please contact us, as we have launched a brand new service. WHY is offering a 12 week therapy group for individuals who are supporting others affected by cancer or life threatening conditions. The group will run on a Wednesday in Frome.
This new service has been funded by a grant from Macmillan Cancer Support.
Cath Wilkins, Clinical Manager commented, “Supporting someone can sometimes be an isolating and stressful time and people can feel that patients are the only ones deserving of support. However, we have found at WHY… that it can be very beneficial for people to share their experiences of supporting and caring for others with those in similar situations. Being able to express feelings in a safe and confidential environment facilitated by professional counsellors can provide a healing experience with opportunities for learning and self-growth. We are therefore delighted to have secured funding for this important work”.
