We Hear You, your local cancer counselling charity, has launched a new counselling service in Bradford on Avon. The charity is now looking to local businesses and the community to help fundraise in order to make this a permanent service for the town.
The charity has secured £5,000 from the Friends of Bradford on Avon Community Healthcare to help it begin this work and is now keen to match this.
Melissa Hillier, Director said, “Having spoken to members of the community in Bradford on Avon we are aware that residents use our service, but currently have to travel to other locations. We know that often people affected by cancer can find travelling difficult, particularly if they are feeling unwell, or have caring commitments and so we are delighted to be able to offer a dedicated service in Bradford on Avon. This initial support will enable us to begin supporting the local community immediately and we are aiming to raise £20,000 to enable us to continue this counselling service for two years”.
We hear You provides emotional support to anyone affected by cancer or other life threatening conditions and works across Wiltshire, Somerset and B&NES. The charity supports children, young people and adults, supporting patients as well as their family and friends to deal with the emotional effects of cancer.
We Hear You understands that cancer and life threatening conditions can be overwhelming. They can leave you feeling numb, isolated and upset and can seem too big to cope with. The charity provides a safe space where people can say the unsayable and ask the unanswerable.
