Salary: £37,500 - £43,500 pro rata, dependent on experience.

Part time (from 22.5 hours per week) or full-time (37.5 hours per week) considered, with some flexibility required. Temporary or permanent considered.

That’s why, at We Hear You, we provide professional counselling for children, young people and adults affected by cancer and life-threatening conditions in Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Our vision is a world where access to high-quality therapeutic support is available when and where it is needed, for everyone affected by cancer and any other life-threatening conditions.

We are now looking for a Head of Fundraising and Engagement to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis, working from 22.5 hours per week up to 37.5 hours per week. We are open to permanent or temporary contracts.

The Role

As our Head of Fundraising and Engagement, you will provide leadership to our fundraising and communications team whilst holding a strategic overview of our income generation.

You will be responsible for development of our volunteer network and community fundraising, and our agreed marketing activities, as well as being responsible for managing relationships with our corporate partners. Ideally, you will have experience of preparing funding bids to trusts and foundations, but this is not essential.

Additionally, you will:

- Provide excellent stewardship and develop relationships with donors, supporters and partner organisations

- Manage and develop events and corporate fundraising

- Develop and coordinate digital fundraising

To be considered as our Head of Fundraising and Engagement you will need:

- Two years’ experience of fundraising and communications for a charity or voluntary organisation, or equivalent.

- Experience of managing and leading a team.

- Experience of planning, budgeting, and forecasting income.

- Experience of managing websites, social media accounts and other digital communication channels.

WHY is a vibrant, dynamic and growing cancer charity working across Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire. 2019 marked WHY’s 25th anniversary and the charity has experienced dramatic growth in recent years. We are implementing a bold strategy that will enable us to diversify the service we offer so that we can provide the therapeutic support that our community needs in a variety of ways.  

We are looking for new members of our Board of Trustees who can offer us their experience and passion and help shape the future of the charity, support our continued growth and enable WHY to reach everyone who needs our support.

Flexible hours/location

Our volunteer ambassadors are passionate and motivated individuals who are committed to supporting We Hear You. They're the face of We Hear You out in the community, raising awareness of the charity’s work and services we offer

Duties and responsibilities

  • Attend cheque presentation events.
  • Attend information events, where We Hear You has a stand or presence, such as coffee mornings, wellbeing days, local group meetings, to share information with attendees in an informal manner.
  • Give short inspiring talks on the work of We Hear You to a variety of community groups.
  • Deliver formal presentations at wellbeing days or to local community groups.
  • Promoting and recruiting volunteers at events.
  • Inspiring your networks to learn more about the work of We Hear You and to get involved in fundraising.
